Our Background

BOCRI was founded by Mr. Hugh Rramoapei Molale who is the chairperson of the Board of Trustees. He was inspired to do so after being requested being requested by Botswana Prison Services to assist a University of Botswana student lecturer in doing her dissertation research on “The Stigmatization and Reintegration of Ex-Prisoners in Botswana”.

BOCRI is a non-governmental organization established by a Deed of Trust. It was duly registered as a Trust in August 2021 at the High Court of Botswana under Section (1) of the Trust & Property Control Act No. 1 of 2018 and became compliant in September 2021. BOCRI’s main aim is to conduct research on crime and its root causes to assist in the development of evidence-based policy decision, interventions and programming to help curb crime in Botswana. This is line with Vision 2036 Pillar 4 of making Botswana a nation of peace, freedom, and progressive governance.
